About NPZ Treatment Center

Compassionate, evidence-based addiction treatment in the heart of Ventura, California

Our Story & Mission

A legacy of healing rooted in Ventura's coastal community

Founded on a Promise of Recovery

NPZ Treatment Center was established with a clear and unwavering purpose: to provide individuals struggling with addiction a genuine path to lasting recovery. What began as a small residential facility on Victoria Avenue in Ventura has grown into one of Southern California's most respected treatment centers, serving patients from across the state and beyond.

Our founders recognized that Ventura's serene coastal environment, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the rolling hills of Ventura County, offered the ideal setting for healing. The natural beauty that surrounds our campus provides a calming backdrop that supports the recovery process, helping patients reconnect with themselves and the world around them.

Our Mission

At NPZ, our mission is to empower every individual who walks through our doors to reclaim their life from addiction. We believe that substance use disorder is a treatable medical condition, not a moral failing, and we approach every patient with the dignity, respect, and clinical expertise they deserve. Our commitment extends beyond the individual to include families and loved ones who are also affected by addiction.

Core Values

  • Compassion First: Every interaction at our Ventura campus is guided by empathy and genuine care for our patients' wellbeing.
  • Evidence-Based Excellence: We employ only clinically proven treatment modalities, staying current with the latest advances in addiction medicine.
  • Individualized Care: No two journeys into addiction are the same, and no two treatment plans should be either. We tailor every program to the unique needs of each patient.
  • Community Integration: Recovery does not end at discharge. We prepare our patients for successful reintegration into their families, workplaces, and communities throughout Ventura County and beyond.
  • Transparency & Integrity: We maintain open communication with patients, families, and referral partners, ensuring trust at every stage of treatment.

Our Approach

Evidence-Based Treatment That Works

At NPZ Treatment Center in Ventura, we believe that effective addiction treatment must address the whole person, not just the substance use. Our clinical team designs individualized treatment plans that integrate multiple evidence-based modalities, ensuring that each patient receives the specific combination of therapies most likely to support their long-term recovery.

Our approach is grounded in the understanding that addiction is a chronic brain disorder with biological, psychological, and social dimensions. By addressing all three of these areas simultaneously, we help patients build the skills, resilience, and support systems they need to maintain sobriety well beyond their time at our facility.

Our Treatment Modalities

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps patients identify and restructure the negative thought patterns that drive addictive behaviors, replacing them with healthier coping strategies.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Teaches mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills that are critical for sustained recovery.
  • Individual Counseling: One-on-one sessions with licensed therapists provide a safe, confidential space to explore personal trauma, triggers, and recovery goals.
  • Group Therapy: Peer-supported sessions foster connection, accountability, and shared learning among patients navigating similar challenges.
  • Family Therapy: Addiction affects the entire family system. Our family programs educate loved ones, repair relationships, and build a supportive home environment for recovery.
  • 12-Step Facilitation: Structured introduction to the principles and fellowship of 12-Step programs, providing a framework for lifelong recovery support.
  • Holistic Therapies: Yoga, meditation, art therapy, and mindfulness practices complement clinical treatment by nurturing physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.

Patient Testimonials

Real stories from real people who found recovery at NPZ

"When I arrived at NPZ, I had been struggling with alcohol dependency for over a decade. The team here in Ventura didn't just treat my addiction — they helped me understand the root causes of my drinking. The CBT sessions with my therapist gave me tools I use every single day. I've been sober for two years now, and I credit NPZ with saving my life."

— James R.

Residential Treatment Program

"I was terrified to enter treatment, but from the moment I walked into NPZ's campus on Victoria Avenue, I felt at ease. The staff treated me like family, not a patient number. The family therapy program helped my husband and children understand my struggle, and today our family is stronger than ever. Ventura will always hold a special place in my heart because of what NPZ gave back to me."

— Melissa T.

Family Therapy & Residential Program

"I tried three other rehab facilities before finding NPZ. What sets them apart is their individualized approach. Dr. Sandoval took the time to understand my co-occurring anxiety disorder and developed a treatment plan that addressed both my opioid dependency and my mental health. The holistic therapies, especially yoga and meditation in the garden, gave me peace I hadn't felt in years."

— Anthony M.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

"The group therapy sessions at NPZ were a turning point for me. Hearing other people share their stories and knowing I wasn't alone made all the difference. The 12-Step facilitation program gave me a framework for recovery that I continue to follow. I go back to Ventura every year on my sobriety anniversary to visit the staff who helped me find my way. Three years clean and counting."

— Sarah K.

Group Therapy & 12-Step Program

"As a veteran dealing with PTSD and substance abuse, I needed a place that understood the complexity of my situation. NPZ's clinical team in Ventura created a specialized treatment plan that combined DBT, individual counseling, and art therapy. The private rooms and peaceful campus gave me the space I needed to heal. I'm now 18 months sober and working as a peer support specialist. NPZ changed everything for me."
